Today I share my recent experience – anchoring on the beach. I believe that many ocean lovers have had similar ideas, wanting to drive a small boat on a sunny day and enjoy the feeling of freedom. Choose a suitable place

The first step of anchoring is, of course, to choose a suitable place. Every time before I set off, I will check the water conditions of the destination. For example, choose a place with a water depth of 3 to 6 meters, so that even if the tide rises, the boat will not be washed to the shore. I remember one time, I chose a seemingly perfect place, but when the tide rose, the boat was too close to the shore, and I was scared to adjust the position quickly.

In addition to the water depth, I will also observe the wind direction and tide. Usually the morning is calm and the best time to sand anchor. Try to avoid anchoring in crowded places, because there will always be some motorboats whizzing by, which is not very safe.

Preparation

After choosing a good place, I will do a series of preparations. First, I will check my anchor and anchor chain. Before I go out every time, I make sure that all these equipment are intact. Once, when I was anchoring at the seaside, I found that the anchor chain was a little worn. Although it did not affect the use, I decided to replace it with a new one to ensure safety.

Then there is the weather forecast. This is very important! I will check the weather conditions for the next few days, especially the wind speed and wave height. Strong winds will affect the stability of anchoring, so if the weather is not good, I will choose to postpone my departure.

Anchoring skills

Then comes the anchoring process. When entering the anchoring area, I always take my time, for fear of missing something. Then, I will choose a suitable location and make sure there are no other boats or obstacles around. When preparing to drop anchor, I will slowly lower the anchor to ensure that it can enter the water smoothly.

Once the anchor is in the water, I will tighten the anchor chain to ensure that it is properly fixed. At this time, I usually ask a friend to observe at the stern, and if there are signs of floating, we will be ready to adjust the position. Once, my anchor was not firmly tied at the beginning, causing the boat to float on the water. As a result, I had to drop anchor again and adjusted it several times before finding the right place.

Enjoy the beach life

After everything is ready, I can enjoy the fun of the beach! After anchoring successfully, my friends and I always take diving equipment to explore the wonders of the seabed. When snorkeling, it is really refreshing to see colorful schools of fish.

In addition, we also like to barbecue on the beach and enjoy food and sunshine. I remember one time, we gathered around the campfire and shared each other’s stories. The atmosphere was very relaxing.

Of course, as ocean lovers, we also pay great attention to protecting the environment. Every time we leave, we will clean up the garbage and ensure the cleanliness of the beach. After all, caring for nature is also the responsibility of every sailor.
