The Main Classification and Use of Stainless Steel Anchor Chains

Ⅰ. The purpose of stainless steel anchor chain

The stainless steel anchor chain is a stainless steel chain connected between the anchor and the hull to transmit and buffer the external force of the ship.

WAC as one of the most reliable steel chain manufacturers in China, provides different kinds of shipping equipments, such as, kenter link, kiln chain, log boom chain, tie down chain tensioner, Korean standard stainless steel link chain, Japanese standard stainless steel link chain.

Ⅱ. The classification of stainless steel anchor chain

1. Stainless steel anchor chains are classified into cast steel anchor chains, welded anchor chains and forged anchor chains according to their manufacturing methods.

1) Cast steel stainless steel anchor chain

Its advantages are high strength, good rigidity, and the supporting block will not loosen, so the service life is long. The disadvantage is that the manufacturing process is more complicated, the cost is higher, and the impact load is poor.

2) Welded stainless steel anchor chain

Its links are made of round steel bending and welding. The process is simple, the cost is low, and the quality exceeds other types of anchor chains. Thus, welded stainless steel anchor chain has been widely used. WAC has stud link anchor chain for sale, if you are interested please contact us.

3) Forged stainless steel anchor chain

It has better toughness. However, the manufacturing process is complicated, the cost is high, and the quality is unstable. It is no longer used on merchant ships.

2. Stainless steel anchor chains are classified according to the link structure

There are two kinds of gearless chain and geared chain. Under the same size, the chain has high strength, small deformation, and it is not easy to twist when stacked, so it is widely used on sea-going ships. The gearless chain is small in size and only used for small anchors.

3. Stainless steel anchor chains are classified according to steel grade

The steel used for the production of geared anchor chains is divided into three grades: A1, A2, and A3. Grade A1 has the smallest intensity, and Grade A3 has the highest intensity. For the same ship, if a strong one is selected, the size of the chain link can be appropriately reduced.
